Charles Dunning (Cluster 1)

Study circle:

A new study circle has begun in Newtownabbey. It’s great to see most of the communities in the cluster having study circles in their area. So this leaves us now with six ongoing study circles. Who’s going to make it seven?

At present we have: Carrickfergus: Book 2, Castlereagh: 0, Belfast: Book 2, Book 2, Book 6, one person doing book 7, North Down: Book 2, Newtownabbey: Book 1, Lisburn: One person doing Book 6.

Devotionals:

We had a new devotional that happened in Belfast. The individual invited her neighbours to a devotional which she held in her home. The next day she asked one of the neighbours that attended “Wasn’t that the weirdest thing you’ve ever been to?”, to which the neighbour replied “Yes, it was”, but everyone really enjoyed it and there are plans to make a sequel.

At present we have: Carrickfergus: Community, Castlereagh: [Support Belfast], Belfast: Community,. North Down: 0, Newtownabbey: 0, Lisburn: Individual, Community [supported by the LSA of Belfast].

Children’s Classes:

There is a children’s class in North Down, which looks to have great potential when the old chestnut of a phrase “open to all” is brought into the equation. The children’s class in Belfast is going well but still only caters for Baha’i children. However there are possible avenues to bring it in line with that well-known phrase. The children put on their sad faces when their teachers are about to leave at the end of class (and by the look of things the teachers put on their happy faces! Only joking).

At present we have: Carrickfergus: 0, Castlereagh: George Townsend school, Belfast: One class, and George Townsend school, North Down: One class, Newtownabbey: 0, Lisburn: 0.

Seven Valleys (Cluster 6)

There are currently three study circles running in this cluster. Two of these are Book 1s, both of which have several “Friends of Bahá’ís!” in them - seven in fact - not bad eh? The other is a Book 3, the latter having started over the last month, which will help to train more teachers of children. There have been several devotional meetings ongoing throughout the cluster, these too have Friends of Bahá’ís involvedd.

Book 5 is Coming!

Shortly after Ruhi Book 5 was released last April the Training Institute for Northern Ireland appointed a three-strong implementation team. Since then the Book 5 team has been studying the it and designing the course. More recently, the team identified the requirement for music for the new songs, which apparently is not available yet anywhere in the world!

Although Palabra Publications has announced that it plans to release this music in the next few months, this may not be ready in time for our use. Therefore the Training Institute has asked two individuals to work on this. The Book 5 team has recently indicated that tutors will be trained for this course during the month of February 2005.
