When I began to read this book I was concerned that
it might be one of those anti-modern anti-science anti-medicine tracts. While
there is the occasional hint of this I was, overall, pleasantly surprised.
What we have here is essentially a two-linked-agendas book. One is a
sensible guide to modern living, and how to take care of ones health and
well-being while existing in the modern world. This is potentially very useful
as long as those it is aimed at actually slow down enough to read it and try to
act on its sensible advice. The other is an unashamed plea for vegetarianism,
which is, of course, commended in the Faith, and the adoption of which the
author feels will solve many of our current problems. It rather tends to be
preachy on occasion but is an honest presentation of a worthy cause. Despite a
few errors of fact it is a book worth reading.
