Baha'is meet Lord Maypr of Belfast

Belfast Community members Susie Agahi, Brian Sweeney and Tony Sherwani met with the Lord Mayor of Belfast Councillor Wallace Browne in August and presented him with the book A Crown of Beauty and the magazine The Bahá'ís . It was a good meeting in which the Mayor learnt about the Faith. He asked several questions and said if we ever needed any help from to just ask.

OMAGH

The Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of Omagh was invited to send a representative to the Inter Faith Information Seminar in Dungannon to give a 15 minute presentation on the Bahá'í Faith. The event took place on 22 Sept. in Moygashel and was attended by 28 people from all over Northern Ireland who represented different community groups and associations in their area. Presentation on Christianity, Humanism, the Chinese Community and Judaism were also given and the project officer read the information she had researched on Islam, Buddhism and Sikhism. The presentation on the Faith was well received and afterwards one young woman, who works with youth in the Belfast area, asked many questions and was very keen to get more information, especially concerning youth activities.

LONDONDERRY

 Joan Catterson

At the “Deepening in Derry” on Thursday 13 October a fascinating tale unfolded. One of the city’s veteran Bahá'ís, Mrs Joan Catterson, gave the local community a rare glimpse into her life, before and after she joined the faith. Many of those whom attended had known Mrs Catterson for many years, but nobody had heard the entire story of the life of such a remarkable women. Brushes with death, the doctors who saved her, her friends, and one frightful journey from Dublin to Derry often entertained, moved and showed each of us, if we just persevere the greatest goal awaits us. A truly excellent evening and God willing Joan will offer us another one soon.
