COMMUNITY NEWS

LONDONDERRY

On 1 November the Londonderry community had a treat. Ruth and Howard Leeb travel- teachers from Georgia, USA, were visiting Northern Ireland and we were able to host them for a deepening on Bahá'u'lláh’s Tablets to the kings and rulers of the earth. The night started with technical problems preparing for the PowerPoint (technology isn’t yet infallible!) but after a short delay and a hearty laugh we were transported back in time to Bahá’u’lláh’s stay at Adrianople where He sendt His letters to the kings and rulers. With a plot right out of the pages of the history of the Faith, we heard the story of what Baha’u’llah said, how each and every one of His warnings came to pass in due time, and of each of the monarchies which had crumbled within seventy years of ignoring His words. The only exception was that of a young Queen Victoria who was noted as saying “If this is of God it will stand, if not it can do no harm”.

We were inspired, enlightened, and even though most know (at least part of) the tale it was still a joy to revisit from a new perspective. There was not a single soul present who failed to appreciate the importance of the subject and the power power with which it was delivered.

OMAGH

Omagh has bid a sad farewell to the Hedayati family, who are moving to Nottingham. Since they first came to Northern Ireland 18 years ago they have been very valued members of the community and they will be sadly missed.
