FROM THE YOUTH FACILITATOR

Do you want to be turned into a morphing, flying, intellectually challenged dinosaur?

As a lot of you will already know, the Bahá'í Council recently decided not to reappoint the Youth Committee and replaced it with a “Youth Facilitator”. Youth relieved can now totally focus.

One day, while driving down a windy, twisty country road, my car grew wings and flew me off to the land of youth facilitators. This is a small island, made out of pink, fluffy clouds. They tried to erase my memory after this experience, but my cunning trickery reduced their success and as a result, I now remember bits and pieces of the incident. What I know for sure is that there is a jellyfish in charge of the world wide federation of youth facilitating. This jellyfish, named Dave, has an army of 7826 dinosaurs. Now these aren’t just any old prehistoric reptiles, they all have the power of morphing into any creature of their desire and also the power of flight; however, they have the brainpower of a goldfish. The reason I’m telling you all of this is that the final thing that I found out on my pink and fluffy trip, was that if Northern Ireland does not multiply its core activities, I will end up as one of those dinosaurs…. and so will all of the Northern Irish Bahá'í Community!

Now that you know the background, and the consequences of not cooperating with the council in this matter, I expect to be getting a lot of phone calls from youth and anyone who has a link to youth, requesting help with the core activities and other Bahá’í based activities.

So far I have talked to a few individuals and groups of youth about their needs and wants for Bahá’í activities. If I haven’t talked to you, whether or not you have anything to say, ring me, txt me, or email me (I don’t know how accurate my list of youth is).

Some of the things that are likely to happen in the near future are:

  • Deepening’s to make it easier for you to teach (and be a Bahá’í in general)
  • Firesides to invite your friends to.
  • Devotionals to invite more friends to.
  • Youth weekends both Bahá’í and open to all.
  • Social activities to increase your community of interest.
  • Sports activities to be sporty?
  • A second Spearhead Campaign? (intensive Ruhi books during the summer).
  • And to tie all of these activities together, there will some form of publication either with, or in CommuNIqué every month!

Remember, my job is to facilitate. The dictionary definition of ‘facilitate’ is “to make easier”. So it’s you (the youth) that will be organizing these activities, I will just be there to help and support! Again, if I haven’t already been in touch with you, get in touch with me! And if you ever want help with anything related to anything, just get in touch! Darragh Graham – Youth Facilitator.
