Summer School this year will take place once again at the popular Lorne Centre just outside Belfast. The School, whose theme is Ripples of Joy, will run from Monday 17 to Sunday 23 July.

The Association for Bahá'í Studies (UK) Annual Conference will take place on 17-18 June 2006, at the Institute of Commonwealth Studies, University of London, Russell Square, London. The theme of this years Annual Conference relates generally to where the line is to be drawn between the acceptable and the unacceptable, the included and the excluded. There will be a particular focus on communities - where communities is to be taken widely to include communities of knowledge and meaning, as well as various human communities.
Papers may, for example, relate to areas such as: stereotyping and exclusion, national boundaries and citizenship, keeping disciplinary rigidity or reaching across disciplinary boundaries, promoting security in the age of terror, self -identification as a marker of community membership, or community recognition as the identifier, where rights should be curbed in order for public life to be sustained.
Please send submissions in the form of an abstract (less than one page). It is intended that the conference proceedings will be made available on our website. ABSTRACTS for papers/presentations/workshops should be sent by 9 May 2001 to the Conference Registrar, Jane OHara.
The developments and increased interest in Bahá'í Studies that have led to the sub-division of former Association for Bahá'í Studies (English-Speaking Europe) are very exciting. Bahá'í Studies are not just for the academically-inclinedits an area anyone can be involved in.

2006 Annual Conference THE POWER OF THE WORD
Venue: Irish Bahai Summer School, Newtown School, Waterford. Dates: Afternoons of Wednesday 2, Thursday 3 and Friday 4 August 2006, 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm.
The Association for Bahá'í Studies in the Republic of Ireland is happy to announce its 2006 Annual Conference and invites submissions for papers, presentations and workshops addressing the theme of The Power of the Word, and other topics. Presentations can range from 20 to 40 minutes, followed by discussion. Please send submissions in the form of an abstract (100-200 words) by 31 May 2006 to Eamonn Moane.
The dates for the forthcoming Unit Conventions in Northern Ireland will be Saturday or Sunday 21 or 22 October 2006 (depending on area). The Bahá'i Council asks you to put these dates in your diary. Unit Convention is an important event for every Bahá'í. Alternative events should not be arranged for this weekend.
