FROM THE NATIONAL SPIRITUAL ASSEMBLY OF THE BAHÁ’ÍS OF THE UNITED KINGDOM

To the Bahá’ís of the United Kingdom

Dearly loved Friends

It is with great sadness that the National Spiritual Assembly announces the passing in Northern Ireland on 18 August 2006 of Beman Khosravi, a greatly loved and devoted servant of the Cause.

Beman's indefatigable services to the Faith in Northern Ireland stretch back to the late 1950s when he pioneered there as a young student from Pakistan. In the years that followed, he expended the full force of his energies to establishing the Bahá'í community in Ulster. For nearly two decades, Beman served tirelessly as an Auxiliary Board member fostering the growth and development of the communities in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Scotland. His warmth of spirit, humility, and gentle and loving nature endeared him to countless souls. His unswerving loyalty to the Covenant and the institutions of the Faith were an inspiration and example to all.

The National Assembly conveys to Beman's dear wife, Marion, and their children its sincere condolences at their loss and assures them of its loving prayers for the progress of Beman's luminous soul in the divine realm.

With loving Bahá’í greetings,
NATIONAL SPIRITUAL ASSEMBLY
Kishan Manocha,
Secretary,

FROM THE BAHÁ’Í COUNCIL FOR NORTHERN IRELAND

The news of the passing, on 18 August 2006, of Dr Beman Khosravi, caused great distress to the Council His almost fifty years of continuous service to the Faith in these islands cannot ever be for-gotten. The deep love and respect held for him in Ireland, both North and South, as well as in Scotland and farther afield is immeasurable.

His indefatigable nature both in sharing his faith with others and in defending the Covenant of God will long be remembered. His immense charm and deeply loving nature endeared him to all whose hearts he touched. As a family man, Beman excelled beyond measure. His love for Marion, his wife, and his three daughters was boundless.

His work as a general medical practitioner and especially for the terminally ill, his work with the Inter-Faith Forum and his services in counselling those who came to him with personal matters, all of these endeared him to thousands. We feel confident of the joyous welcome he will receive in the worlds beyond and pray for his continued spiritual progress. The Council holds his family close to its heart and prays for their strength of spirit at this difficult time.

FROM THE NATIONAL SPIRITUAL ASSEMBLY OF THE BAHÁ’ÍS OF THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

The National Spiritual Assembly is grieved and saddened by the loss of our beloved friend, Dr Beman Khosravi. As a member of the Auxiliary Board, Beman endeared himself to this community with his gentle wit, kindly nature and wisdom. However, it was his other qualities – his unswerving dedication to the Cause of Bahá’u’lláh, his deep and unshakeable embrace of His Covenant and his embodiment of the principles of His Faith – that most distinguished him in his lifelong and tireless service to God and humanity.

We have no doubt that he will continue, in the next world, to aid and assist the communities of Northern Ireland and the Republic to win victories for the Cause.

Our loss, and that of his dear wife Marion and children, Kiyan, Gohar and Nasrin, is great indeed. We are consoled by the assurance that his light continues to shine, adding to the brilliance of the Kingdom beyond this material world, and illuminating the history of the Faith on this island.

We send our heartfelt sympathy to his family, along with the prayers this Assembly offered for the progress of his beloved soul.

With loving Bahá'í greetings,
Caroline Smith,
Secretary.

FROM THE NORTHERN IRELAND INTER-FAITH FORUM

Dear Marion

Along with yourself, your family and so many friends, my colleagues and I in the Inter-Faith Forum mourn profoundly Beman's passing. But with you and them we celebrate his life - a life of extraordinary dignity and courage, self-forgetfulness, faithfulness and love.

It was a privilege to know him, a joy to be in his company, and none of us who shared with him the fellowship of the Inter-Faith Forum can ever forget his total commitment to the interfaith ideal nor the sheer loving-kindness which flowed from his spirit, like a shimmering stream, towards each one of us.

To know Beman was to love him, quite unconditionally! And one can think of no more apt tribute to his memory than the words used in the New Testament to describe the character of Barnabas: "A good man, full of the Holy Ghost and of faith".

Yours sincerely,
Maurice Ryan
(on behalf of the Inter-Faith Forum).
