VISIT OF THE NATIONAL SPIRITUAL ASSEMBLY

More than seventy Bahá'ís from all over Northern Ireland gathered in the Beechlawn Hotel, Dunmurry, on 9 September, at the invitation of the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of the United Kingdom. Our National Spiritual Assembly holds some of its meetings away from the National Haziratu’l-Quds, to give the Believers the chance to meet with the institution and its members. This was their first such visit to Northern Ireland since September 2003 and had been eagerly awaited.

All nine members of the Assembly were present, and after a welcome and introduction from its Chairman, Dr Shirin Tahzib, two members, Barney Leith and Fidelma Meehan gave short talks. Both spoke about the need for teaching and what we can do to spread the message of Bahá'u'lláh and the many opportunities we have, arising out of the core activities and otherwise. Barney Leith drew attention to the state of the world, what is going on, and how it cries out to hear of the Faith as the answer to its difficulties.

There was then an open discussion session. Various members of the National Assembly answered questions, and also referred to some of the things that Bahá'ís in Northern Ireland are embarked upon that give great pleasure to the Assembly.

The National Spiritual Assembly also had a special consultation with the Bahá'í Council for Northern Ireland during its visit.
