MAYOR SENDS NAW-RÚZ GREETINGS

Guildhall Londonderry

The Guidhall, Londonderry (Derry)

The Mayor of Londonderry has sent a special message of greetings and best wishes to the Bahá'ís of the district on the occasion of Naw-Rúz. The official letter, sent to the Spiritual Assembly from the city's historic Guildhall, says:

“I would like to take this opportunity to extend New Year Greetings to the Baha'i Community in our City.
I am very much aware of the excellent work carried out by members of the Baha'i faith in promoting social cohesion and anti-discrimination. The Baha'i faith in many ways embodies the spirit of community cohesion and I commend the community's outlook on life and the proactive work you do in the inter-faith and anti-discriminatory fields and believe others should learn from your example when working to promote inclusiveness. I believe that the Baha'i community can continue to contribute to the lives of the wider Derry society and I look forward to assisting you in whatever way I can during my term in office as Mayor.
With best wishes for a peaceful and happy Naw-Ruz.
Yours sincerely,
(signed)
Councillor Helen Quigley,
Mayor.”
