"ON THE ROAD TO NAHARIYYA"

A poem by Keith Munro. (The road to Nahariyya runs close by the Shrine of Bahá'u'lláh.)

I saw a Man on the road to Nahariyya.
I thought he beckoned me to come into his garden.
But the sun shone brightly behind his head and
I was blinded and I couldn’t be sure.

I saw the Man again, on the road to Nahariyya.
He smiled and beckoned me. He pointed to the Gate.
But I thought it was closed and
I walked on.

I saw that Man again, on the road to Nahariyya.
The sun was high in the sky.
He smiled and pointed towards the Gate and
It was open wide.

I entered in.
