NEW WEBSITE ON THE LIFE OF BAHÁ'U'LLÁH

new website

A new website featuring photographs that aim to help viewers experience the life of Baha'u'llah has been launched by the Baha'i International Community. Some of the photographs have not been published before, and many of them have had only limited distribution. The site has been prepared by the Bahá'í International Community and aims to provide illustration of Bahá’u’lláh’s life through photographs of places and artefacts and relics associated directly with Him. The photographs on the website are from the archives at the Bahá'í World Centre in Haifa and the address of the site is www.bahaullah.org.

IN THE SOUTH

The Bahá'ís of the neighbouring communities of Craigavon and Armagh organised their third Musical Devotional Meeting on 14 October 2007 at the Harris home in Tandragee. More than twenty Bahá'ís and their friends enjoyed the prayers and meditation accompanied by music in a spiritual atmosphere.

This was followed by a multicultural event which took place in Lurgan Town Hall, on Saturday 20 October 2007. This featured the participation of over 60 people from eight different cultures. (Indian, Filipino, Russian, Kenyan, Iranian, Irish, Spanish and Cuban)

The Mayor of Craigavon, Councillor Robert Woolsey Smith, opened the function and was followed by a magnificent feast from many different countries. A representative from each culture welcomed the guest in their mother tongue and talked about their experience in Northern Ireland. Nazy Harris then encouraged everyone to try to take advantage of the occasion to find new friends and exchange telephone numbers and addresses to form lasting friendships. There were performances of Indian dance, traditional Irish and Iranian music and song, and recitation of Gaelic poetry. The evening ended with everyone excited about making this event a regular occurrence.

IN THE WEST

The Friends gathered at the Unit Convention in Londonderry (covering the West and North-West of the Province) followed the request of the National Spiritual Assembly and spent some of the time considering the pioneer goals that have been given to the UK Bahá'í community. Two points came up with regard to the overseas goals that they wanted to share more widely as ideas worth thinking about.

One was that retired people who are more mobile than those with jobs and mortgages might consider short term pioneer moves, especially in the winter months when many people head South for a time, to one of the places we heard about.

The other was whether any of the budding or established entrepreneurs in the community would consider buying a property in one of the overseas goals that could be let out to pioneers for the appropriate periods of time. This would overcome one of the worries that can face people pioneering to a strange place, the problems and uncertainties of finding somewhere to live.
