YOUTH NEWS

Baha'i youth weekend NI

The youth weekend at the Gornall home in Magherafelt in February was the familiar mix of relaxed atmosphere, games and interesting talks. We went to feed the ducks, had beautiful food generously provided by Les and Mahin, there was guitars, ping pong, rounders, Genesis Chapter 19 and Sana's disgusting cup. (No, I don’t know what this means either, perhaps you have to be young…. Editor) It wasn’t all loafing about though. We had Nason, Les and Colette and Colin Rogers all on different subjects relating to the youth and the Faith over the course of the weekend.

Les spoke on the nature of the Covenant, the potential of and role of young Bahá'í in the future, and something odd about pork eating laws! On the Saturday afternoon Colin and Collette spoke about the indirect and more direct methods of teaching the faith, presenting the message as given by Bahá'u'lláh, a Manifestation of God, as well the central beliefs and teachings. On the final Sunday morning Nason gave an Interactive talk about being becoming more familiar with the core teachings of the faith given the opposition it will face in the future.

THANK YOU!

The Youth Facilitation Team would like to thank Les, Mahin and Cameron Gornall for hosting this youth weekend and ensuring it ran smoothly! To Mahin especially for the wonderful food and to Les for an excellent and engaging two sessions on the Covenant.  We would also like to thank Colin and Colette Rodgers for stepping in at the last minute to give a session on Direct Teaching, to Nason Ma'ani for facilitating a discussion on scholarship in relation to responsibilities of Baha'i youth and to Tina Hondarmandan for organising the Junior Youth sessions.  Last but not least we would like to thank all those who attended and supported this youth weekend making it the success it was.
