A POETIC THOUGHT ON UNITY

There was some consultation at National Convention on what we understand by “unity”. Clearly it is not a matter of all being the same. Rolf Schmidt offered this poem as a way to the roots of unity.

DIFFERENCES

I thought we were so different
You do all the things I hate
And I despair of you

But if you are so different
How can you love the same song
That gives wings to my soul?

And if we are so different
Then why do I see myself in you
Like a mirror image?
