Baha'is in Omagh

On 9th July two members of the Omagh Bahá'í community met with Mr. Martin McColgan the chairman of Omagh District Council to present him with some Bahá'í books. It was a very successful meeting and many questions were asked: Mr. McColgan was well informed on several aspects of the Faith which he had researched on the internet.

Some of those taking part

On 24 August Orang Agahi, the NI coordinator for study circles and Denis Coyle, the NI coordinator for children’s classes (above) travelled to the North-West. First they consulted with the coordinators for the Hainsworth and Stars of the West clusters. Then, at a bulging-at-the-seams meeting in the Londonderry Bahá'í Centre, they met with Friends from Derry (Hainsworth) Omagh (Stars of the West) and Letterkenny (Declan Devine, assistant to ABM Ann O’Sullivan, and his family), and some useful consultation ensued.

“WHAT I DID ON MY SUMMER HOLIDAYS”

Views on Summer School from visitors:

“The Northern Ireland Summer School 2008 managed to exceed its own high standards from previous years in providing an outstanding example of the fusion of prayer, study and fellowship that characterise Baha'i residential schools… Northern Ireland boasts a happy and vibrant community where young and old mix together, and all are welcome.” (Daniel Wheatley, London)

“We were both very impressed by the Summer School. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The programme, thanks to the  organisers, ran smoothly with talks, workshops and artistic experiences smoothly blended and inclusively flexible. The children's  class provision supported the whole event well thanks to all the preparation by Julie and Inge: the feeling was, though, that a  stricter policy on parents clearly booking their children into the  classes in advance would have helped forward planning and made for  less of a scramble on the first day. The venue was just the right size  for the numbers giving a friendly feel... In short, the school was interesting  and uplifting and we both took away a great deal of value. We'd come again!” (Peter and Zarrin Hulme, Hereford)
