"MOMENTUM" - NEWS OF LEARNING AND ACTION

WHY THE CORE ACTIVITIES?

The nature and aims of the core activities on which we are engaged:

" ... meetings that strengthen the devotional character of the community; classes that nurture the tender hearts and minds of children; groups that channel the surging energies of junior youth; circles of study, open to all, that enable people of varied backgrounds to advance on equal footing and explore the application of the teachings to their individual and collective lives ... "

From the message of the Universal House of Justice, Ridvan 2010 CE

NEWS FROM NORTHERN LIGHTS CLUSTER

NORTH DOWN - HOW A COMMUNITY IS ENGAGING WITH THE PLAN

Bangor, Borthern Ireland Bangor, heart of North Down

Training - A Ruhi Institute Book 1 has started with eight collaborators including the facilitator with five of them friends of the Faith. A Ruhi Book 7 has starting with five collaborators including the facilitator.

Junior Youth Group - The junior youth group has restarted following a summer break. There will be outreach to expand the group. The cluster coordinator for junior youth groups is accompanying this group.

Children’s Class - Classes for 5-7 year olds has restarted recently. We are holding the class and currently we have four children from the community of interest attending and there are some more from last year who may start coming too. Another friend knows someone with a child who may like to attend and I know two people with young children and have mentioned it to them.

Devotional Gatherings - We still have two devotionals a month in our community which we alternate between two homes. They are going very well and new people are showing an interest in attending. Other devotionals to be started are in the pipeline.

Neighbourhood development - We are planning to have some of our neighbours over for a cup of tea in the next month. New people have moved in across the road with children and we thought it would be a good way to get to know them and then see. Some of our neighbours have attended Ayyám-i-Há in our home before and really enjoyed it. We are going to invite them to our next devotional. A friend has passed on the email of some people in Bangor who attended an event at his home and who live about 15 minutes from us. We will invite them to our next devotional too.

Parenting Group - A friend who lives about 20 minutes walk from me came to the parenting course at the summer school. As a result of this she has started a parenting group with the help of a friend. My friend has e also expressed an interest in doing a Ruhi Book 1 in 2011 as she is due to have a baby in December. I have a feeling that some of the people attending the group will also be interested in doing a Ruhi Book 1 next year as these friendships evolve.

Deepening on the Ridván 2010 Message - As a result of this deepening it was decided to try and establish two teaching teams in North Down. Some more consultation is required and afterwards the teaching teams can consult with the ATC about neighbourhood development.
