Life blood ……..News from the Office of the Treasurer

WINTER SCHOOL: The Council acknowledges the receipt at winter school of the following: Donations to the National Fund: £167.61

The Council is pleased to inform you that they have received details from the Office of the Treasurer of their budget for the year starting 1st February 2001.The total allocation to Northern Ireland is £39,850. This includes £15,000 for the initial funding of Residential schools which of course we hope will be self funding and will be repaid, this leaves £24,850 for our work here in Northern Ireland. What do we anticipate spending this money on? Communiqué will cost in the region of £1300. We will be allocating £1500 to the Youth Committee, and £300 to the Junior Youth Task Force. Members of the Council will have their expenses paid to travel both to meetings within Ireland and to England and hopefully Dublin, this is expected to cost around £3,300.The office at Hackney House is being used now more than ever and it has to be heated and kept in order this will cost £1450. Administration, photocopying, postage etc will use around £3500, and we have allowed in our budget projection for a Year of Service volunteer to work and live at Hackney House to help with the office workload we have estimated a small living allowance will add £1500 to the expenses. Capital expenditure, buying new or good second-hand equipment for the office will absorb £2000. External Affairs, £2000 has been budgeted for this area of our work .

Lastly but perhaps most important of all we have allowed £5000 for Consolidation and Development this includes supporting local assemblies in teaching projects, holding regional conferences and supporting the Arts.

The Council has pledged to raise 60% of this, which is £14,910. We can only do this with your help, the figures above are only a projection of what we anticipate spending, every member of the Council is aware that these figures on a page are the hard earned cash of the friends and has been given to the administration to help promote the Faith, not one penny will be spent without examining if it is being spent wisely.

[PAT CRAIG. Treasurer]

The importance of contributing resides in the degree of sacrifice of the giver, the spirit of devotion with which the contribution is made and unity of the friends in this service; these attract the confirmations of God and enhance the dignity and the self-respect of the individuals and the community Lights of Guidance, Page 252
