Junior Youth Get a Taste of the Ridván Experience

The junior youth gathered on the 8th day of Ridván at the ‘Wendy House’ in Bangor. We started with stories of Bahá’u’lláh’s experiences in Baghdad. Then each youth carried roses to our Ridván tent in the garden. Our story teller, Susie, told us of the original Ridván Garden. A devotional followed; the birds began to sing and the sun came out as the youth prayed together and sang to the accompaniment of Susie’s guitar. Tina then organised craft activities; more flowers were made for our tent and tiles were decorated in a most artistic manner.

The rain and hail failed to dampen our spirits as we had a BBQ and enjoyed tea from a samovar. Games were arranged to enhance our public skills as we waited for the rain to ease and the day was concluded with a visit to the beach.

Thanks to Wendy for the use of her house, Susie for story-telling, Tina for Art, Marion for soup, the Junior Youth Committee for organising the day and the junior youth for being wonderful! Finally here’s a few comments:

“This weekend was brilliant fun. We had great fun throughout the day. We also went to the Bangor beach before and after the Bar-be-cue which was good and the day was worth taking part in.” Robert Cecil

“I really enjoyed this junior youth day. It was brilliant and we went for a walk on to the beach. We had a tent in the garden like the one in the Ridván garden which was very lovely. We filled the inside of the tent with real roses and also with flowers and decorated tiles made with Tina. It was great fun. Although it rained for a while it didn’t spoil the fun of the day for us.” Rebecca Moore
