2001 – a Naw-Rúz Party Odyssey

On Sat. 24th March 2001, over 315 people attended a Naw-Rúz Party at St. Bride’s Hall in Belfast; more than half were not Bahá’ís. Entertainment included Chinese flute music from Xin Hao; Jazz from John Giffin and Zhenia Mahdi; Spanish guitar from Philip Brown; flute from Parissa Roohipour and Bryce Thornton; S. American music from Los Unidas Latin America (Liliana, Carlos and Vincete), Persian and Spanish dancing from Mojdeh Haghighi; Indian music from Sangita Mahajan, and Salsa from Tony Sherwani, Nasrin Khosravi, and friend. How’s that for an International Show?

Big thanks to Herbie and Hilary McF, Pat J, Pippa C, Louise T, and St. John A, Jaya G, Kaveh, the Fadaran sisters, et al. Special thanks to Belfast Spiritual Assembly for flowers; John G and Bryce T for PA, and Arjang A for removal services above and beyond; to the Northern Ireland Bahá’í Council for fiscal support, and those who donated money, food and drinks. Newtownabbey Assembly is retiring from the ‘Naw Rúz Party Business’, and challenge you to stage next year’s! “So come on…..if you fink yer ‘ard enuff!”

PS: Still not too late to make donations. Contact the Treasurer, Peter Black, 11d Ardmillan Drive, Rathcoole, Newtownabbey, Co Antrim BT37 9AZ

[Apologies from the editor: too little space in the last edition meant that this important ‘thank you’ did not get printed: EDITOR] [Sorry Peter]
