The Atrocity in America (4)

 US flag

Message sent by the Bahá’í Council for Northern Ireland to the United States Consulate-General in Belfast:

U.S. Consul General and staff
Queen’s House Queen Street Belfast

Dear Consul General and staff

The Bahá’í Council for Northern Ireland expresses its sympathy for the American people at this time. Our hearts are shocked and grief-stricken by the shameless acts of terrorist violence against innocent victims in New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington. We are praying for those who died and beseeching God to comfort the hearts of those who have lost loved ones.

The Bahá’í community in Ireland has strong links with the United States: one of the leading Bahá’ís in the United States in the early years of the 20th Century (Dr Frederick D’Evelyn) came from County Antrim; and one of the foremost Irish Bahá’ís (Mr. George Townshend) spent some time working in the United States before returning to Ireland. Since that time the close connections between the Irish Bahá’í community and the United States has continued to deepen.

We pray that you will find strength at this difficult time.

Yours sincerely
Edwin Graham,
Secretary
