Bahá'í Agency for Social and Economic Development in the
United Kingdom (BASED-UK)
- Independent charity · Founded in 1993
- Two central goals: · Alleviation of poverty , advancement of education
- Activities aimed at: · Fundraising for Bahá'í social and
economic development projects in developing countries, as requested by the
Bahá'í World Centre
- At present BASED-UK is supporting 2 projects in Honduras: Tierra Santa
Orphanage & SAT rural education programme
- Organizational structure: Six Trustees appointed by the National Spiritual
Assembly: Dr Geeta Kingdon, Mr Ardeshir Laloui, Mr Barney Leith (Secretary), Dr
Kishan Manocha, Dr Wendi Momen (Chairman), Mr Michael Richards
- Financial resources provided by: British government for SAT project, annual
subscriptions of the Friends of BASED-UK, donations by other supporters
Bahá'í Office for Social and Economic Development for the
United Kingdom (BOSED-UK)
- Established in 2001 under the National Spiritual Assembly
- Office for SED for the British Bahá'í community
- Central goals: · Support of SED projects within the UK
- Activities aimed at: · Education about the Bahá'í
approach to social and economic development
- Providing training, information and human resources for SED projects within
the UK
- Organizational structure: Three members of the Office: Ms Ineke Gijsbers,
Mrs Susie Howard, Dr Farzin Rahmani-Shirazi..several consultants, appointed by
BOSED-UK
