FROM THE NATIONAL SPIRITUAL ASSEMBLY

“A Basic Guide for the Protection of Children and Young People”

This new and important document from the National Spiritual Assembly is now available in hard copy from the National Office or as PDF attached file (350KB) from resources@bahai.org.uk - any Bahá'í body arranging events for children and young people (i.e. up to age 18), and any individual having “substantial access” to them (e.g. as a teacher, carer, or youth leader) at Bahá'í events has to read this and follow its guidance.

THIS IS IMPORTANT!

GUIDANCE ON ASYLUM SEEKERS

The National Spiritual Assembly is aware that some Local Spiritual Assemblies are being contacted by an increasing number of refugees and asylum seekers from Iran and other countries. As you are aware, special conditions apply to the teaching and enrolment of Iranian Muslims in the Faith. However, the National Assembly has recently received a letter dated 19 March 2003 from the Department of the Secretariat at the Bahá'í World Centre clarifying that the particular guidance about teaching and enrolling Iranian Muslims does not apply to refugees from countries other than Iran. This letter is available to Local Spiritual Assemblies on request from the National Office.
