CASTLEREAGH

We are delighted to let you know that the George Townshend School sale on 7 December brought in the highest figure yet for this annual event: £1,232 20p This is a great help towards the expenses of the school. The Castlereagh Assembly wish to thank all those who took part on making this sale such a success, particularly the youth who gave outstanding help in manning the stalls.

Our community’s only youth, Shirin Jamshidi, has gained permission to hold a Tranquillity Zone in Grosvenor Grammar School on condition that she helps one of the teachers form a dance workshop on similar lines to Cipher. This is a remarkable development as the school has a strong Christian ethos. The Tranquillity Zone will include passages from other religions, including some from the Bahá'í Faith.

Our Local Assembly has developed a one year plan with the help and guidance of our Auxiliary Board Member Mr Denis Coyle and we are in the process of implementing it.

LONDONDERRY

Of Men and Angels” A meeting with such a title needs to be spectacular to meet expectations: Les Gornall not only matched them at the “Deepening in Derry” on 7 November, but surpassed them. In an inspiring and very personal presentation he showed how even in the most trying times God will help us if we are willing to put our full trust in Him and spread the faith as well.

As a follow-on Les awed all present with pictures and videos he had made of the resent eclipses of the moon and sun. Nobody left disappointed and many with a new sense of wonder for the skies.

Keith Munro spoke on “Shoghi Effendi” at the deepening on 5 December and in an obviously well-researched talk gave us some insight into the life and mission of the Guardian of our Faith. A deeply moving short presentation of photographs of Shoghi Effendi from earliest childhood to the end of his ministry made the evening unforgettable.
