“STORIES TOLD BY ‘ABDU’L-BAHÁ”
Compiled by Dr Amir Badiei
Published by George Ronald

Most religious traditions use stories. They can impart truths, they can convey a message to the hearers, or they can stimulate thought. They give a human aspect to what the teller is trying to put across and so can have a much greater effect than just setting out the key points. Those from a Christian background will be most familiar with the parables of Jesus, themselves building on rabbinical tradition.

These stories told by ‘Abdu'l-Bahá have been collected from a variety of sources and cover a wide range of subjects. Some of them will appeal to the reader immediately, others bear more thought. Some are inspiring. Others, it has to be said, seem a little unexpected in their subject matter and approach to it: perhaps these are more meaningful to readers of an Eastern tradition. Over all it is an interesting collection.
