Deepening in Derry

A Century in a Night

The deepening’s in Derry continued on Friday 12 March with ‘Century of Light’ a deepening led by Iain Palin on the book of that name released by the Universal House of Justice.

The evening started with a fast breaking for the community and all who wished to attend the deepening later in the evening. Dr Palin gave a computer presentation and talk that made an informative evening that interested both those who have and haven’t read the book. He made it clear that although the Twentieth Century was filled with pain, and so it could sometimes be difficult to reconcile this with ‘Abdu’l-Bahá’s description of it as a “century of light”, it was a true century of development and advancement for the human race. This showed itself in many ways, in which humanity was—unknown to itself—making progress in fulfilling God’s Plan for it in many different ways.

The evening was both informative and enjoyed by all , with a lively discussion following the talk.

Baha'i Exhibition in Rural College, Draperstown

Members of the Association of Bahá'í Women - Magherafelt were invited to a formal dinner and to provide a display of Baha'i literature on 9th March 2004. Different women's groups from Mid-Ulster and Donegal joined to celebrate International Women's Day. The invitation was limited to two members of each group. The press photographed every stand, after which there were talks and presentations on the theme of "Wellbeing of Women". The outcome of the event's many workshops was the launch of a handbook of all the groups, giving details of their work and contacts.

BELFAST

On 29th Feb about 30 of us from Charles Dunning Cluster came together at the Farset centre to celebrate Ayyám-i-Há. The evening started with a lovely choice of savoury and sweet food. Special thanks to everyone who brought something along especially the Irish Stew and Persian rice! Next up we enjoyed a hilarious game of pass the parcel. Who can forget Houshang’s chicken walk, or Pat's whistling? or even Joan’s elephant call or Afnan’s disco dance? The fun continued with the lucky dip where each person had to give an acceptance speech for their present. Great night all round.
