FROM THE BAHÁ’Í COUNCIL

Prestigious Bahá’í Centre for Northern Ireland

Dear Friends,

Dear Bahá'í Friends, We are delighted to share with you a recent communication from the National Assembly which explains to all the friends the upcoming sale of the Hackney Property. We rejoice in the purchase of a worthy centre for the whole community, which will not only house accommodation for the Council but will have facilities for the friends. We also note with joy that surplus money will be invested for that day in the future when temple land will be purchased.

Here is the full text of the message from our National Spiritual Assembly.

With warmest Bahá'í greetings,
Bahá'í Council for Northern Ireland.

Having looked carefully at the current state of the property market, the National Spiritual Assembly has decided to sell the George Hackney property at 64 Old Dundonald Road, Belfast. The net proceeds from the sale of the property will be used to purchase a suitable Bahá’í Centre for Northern Ireland.

The Centre will include office accommodation for the Bahá’í Council for Northern Ireland as well as facilities for the friends. Any surplus money will be invested and held against the day when it is timely to buy another temple site in the Province.

The George Hackney property is well placed in Belfast for housing development. The National Spiritual Assembly's professional advisers will guide the National Assembly through the process of ensuring that the property can be sold for the best price to a property developer.

The National Assembly believes that this will serve the requirements of the Northern Ireland Bahá’í community better than retaining the present house and land.
