NORTHERN LIGHTS CLUSTER REFLECTION MEETING

With a joyous spirit and impassioned zeal, the friends from the Northern Lights cluster met on 1 February for their quarter reflection meeting. As with all reflection meetings this gathering aimed to inspire and encourage the believers to engage in the execution of the current Plan, while also providing assistance for, and reflecting upon the activities that are taking place in the community.

However this reflection meeting seemed to me to be characterised by a different and noticeably more powerful spirit than previous ones. Indeed, this meeting was invested with a special potency. I believe the guidance imparted to the Believers at the London conference in January instilled in them an eagerness to fully embrace the opportunity to engage in the path of service, while at the same time filling them with a more concrete and in-depth understanding of what this path of service entails. It is with this newly-offered inspiration that the Northern Lights cluster finds itself assured of Bahá'u'lláh's divine assistance, and with this alone, our cluster has been endowed with a stronger sense of purpose which is to directly assist in the transformation of society. It was with this refreshed understanding of purpose that all the local believers attended our most recent cluster meeting and wholeheartedly engaged in the activities in hand.

The artistically inspired opening devotional was both relaxing and galvanizing. This was followed by a discussion about the current level of core activities. Reports revealed an active engagement in all areas of these activities.

To study the letter from the Universal House of Justice to the Believers at the London conference, we split up into groups. These thoroughly explored and gained further insights into the information contained in it. We approached this task with an eager thirst for knowledge, and appeared to affirm the urgency of the believers’ involvement in the current Five Year Plan. This learning activity was insightful and reassuring.

Our Board Member, Matthew Kennedy later gave a brief yet simultaneously inspirational talk on this current “...vital undertaking...” and urged us to disrobe ourselves of the invisible ropes that we create which then in turn constrain our action. He assured us that this disrobement will inevitably allow us to move beyond our own limitations, achieve our goals and execute our current plans. Mathew pointed out that as Bahá'ís living in a world which is steadily becoming paralysed by its crumbling economic structures; we are the blessed few that can present the spiritual solutions that will provide the much awaited remedy for these overwhelming problems. It is through our valiant efforts and with a consecrated zeal that is will be achieved.

To conclude, this reflection meeting was truly wonderful, and productive.
