THE BAHÁ'ÍS OF
DERRY
WELCOME!
Cross the River Foyle into our city on the iconic new
footbridge, the Peace Bridge
No matter who we are, we have the same questions: What is the
point of it all? Does life have a meaning? What kind of a world are we leaving
to our children? Millions of people around the world are discovering answers in
the teachings of the Bahá'í Faith and the life of its community,
the second-most widespread religion in the world after Christianity.
We - the Bahá'ís of the city known variously as
Derry and Londonderry - are a part of this.
This site is maintained by the Spiritual Assembly of the
Bahá'ís of Londonderry / Tionól Spioradalta
Bhaháithe Dhoire. The Spiritual Assembly is the elected
administrative body for the members of the Bahá'í Faith in this
vibrant city of alnmost 100,000 people in the north-western part of Northern
Ireland.
Explore our site to learn more about who we are, what we
do, and what we have to offer to people of all persuasions and all walks of
life.
"Derry", from Irish
"Doire", an oak grove.
Oak trees and groves played an important role in the spiritual beliefs of the
Celtic peoples of Ireland.
